79th Pictures of the Year International competition now accepting entries

79th Pictures of the Year International competition now accepting entries: Missouri School of Journalism’s POY is open to anyone; submissions close Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. Organized by and listed at Reynolds Journalism Institute, this photojournalism contest allows 15 single-image or multi-photo-story entries across 34 categories, including Tokyo Olympics coverage; premier local and international Photographer of the Year portfolios allow 50 images, while “Impact 2021: COVID-19, Year 2” allows 20 images from the past two years to recognize long-term pandemic coverage. Judging is virtual, with final voting and discussion livestreamed Feb. 9–28; Photographer of the Year categories and the World Awareness, Community Awareness and Environmental Vision awards carry $1,000 prizes, while the Angus McDougall Excellence in Editing Award grants free Missouri Photo Workshop tuition; founded in 1944, POY includes POY Latam, in its tenth year, and newly launched POY Asia.
