Mary Nahorniak, U.S. Teaching Fellow, Google News Lab, covers Google’s tools for visualizing stories: simple GIFs, engaging Flourish graphics, mapping tools and the Google Earth suite, including storytelling projects, fly-over animations and timelapses. This second session in a four-part series showcases free tools for journalists to report and tell stories; each session offers campaign and election reporting examples and other stories, immediately actionable tips and use cases, and a takeaway cheat sheet for INN members of all skill levels; other sessions are Advanced Search and Pinpoint – March 28, Google Trends – April 25, and Misinformation and Verification – June 27.
