RJI Student Innovation Competition seeks-outside-the-box solutions to growing problem of news avoidance — Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism invites teams from any U.S. college or university to submit ideas by Oct. 18, 2024. This Professional Development competition, listed at Reynolds Journalism Institute, challenges teams to help news organizations reduce avoidance: 4 in 10 people worldwide avoid news at least sometimes, often because of perceived negativity and violence, amid declining trust, financial insecurity and journalist burnout. Finalists receive $500 in project reimbursement for technology, strategic plans or events, must test and implement ideas, then present to independent expert judges; prizes at the spring conclusion are $10,000, $2,500 and $1,000 for first through third place—learn more or submit at https://rjionline.org/news/rji-student-innovation-competition-seeks-outside-the-box-solutions-to-growing-problem-of-news-avoidance/
