INN + Yodel: Community calendars that drive audience (and revenue) explores how automated calendars can build readership, engagement and ad/sponsorship revenue while addressing submission barriers and scraping demands. Partnering with the Athens County Foundation and Athens County Visitors Bureau, the Athens County Independent became the nation’s first newsroom to host a calendar powered by community technology provider Yodel, meeting a longstanding need for centralized event information, strengthening local partnerships and supporting its community-engagement mission.
