Celebrating Black Miami: An Immersive Journey through History & Film

Celebrating Black Miami: An Immersive Journey through History & Film takes place October 17, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Historic Hampton House, 4240 Northwest 27th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33142—the world’s only Green Book museum, built in 1953 and a civil rights-era gathering place. Presented by Video Consortium Miami with Historic Hampton House, this Professional Development event includes a guided tour from 6:45–7:15 PM, followed at 7:30 PM by three rare 16mm films curated and introduced by Miami archivist and librarian Katharine Labuda—The Matter With Me (1971, 19 min), Didn’t We Ramble On (1989, 14 min), and A Few Things I Know About Miami (1987, 25 min)—and a post-screening discussion with Miami documentary filmmaker Dudley Alexis, known for When Liberty Burns (2020) and Edge of Hope (2024). Movie theatre concessions are included with your ticket; the first 25 arrivals receive a free VC tote bag, and VC Gold members can sign in and RSVP free.
