Sunday Afternoon Sound-Off

November 9th, 2025

Founder’s Note

By Jack Gorsline

1 year ago last week, Massachusetts voters resoundingly cast their ballots against Question 4 — the scandal-plagued $7.5 million dollar ballot campaign that would have legalized psychedelic assisted therapy and decriminalized personal use, possession, and home grow of psilocybin mushrooms.

If you haven't yet - be sure to read Noah Daly and I's latest reporting on the baffling strategy enacted by the Q4 campaign team over at Lucid News.

For this week’s Sunday Sound-Off, Decriminalize Nature Virginia Co-Founder Will E. Nelson weighs in on what psychedelic advocacy organizations can, could, and should really do with the kinds of resources and funding that the Yes on 4 Campaign and the campaign’s affiliate groups had at their disposal in 2024 and beyond.

We’ve also included a summary of Yes on 4 campaign Whistleblower Graham Moore’s ongoing tell-all series - which we’ve bee exclusively syndicating here at Psychedelic State(s) of America for the last few weeks. After sounding the alarm on a hefty number of alleged campaign finance violations surrounding the campaign, Moore has once again opened up the campaign’s archives for unique deep-dive into the inner workings and strategic decision making that should serve as a blueprint and a warning to grassroots advocates across the United States.

Tomorrow, for our weekly Psychedelic State(s) of the Union Newsletter, we’ll recap a successful Global Psychedelic Week, including an informative and engaging Capitol City Plant Medicine Showcase here in DC, along with a poignant editorial about the basics of cognitive liberty in the age of psychedelic resurgence.

Until then, Happy Sunday!

I have been working in marketing and advertising for more than a decade; but today I apply these same skills to advocate for the people whose lives are affected by the issues that impact them. I am Co-Founder of Decriminalize Nature Virginia. I know firsthand that when you build strong connections with your local community, you can accomplish powerful things through grassroots activism. This is why I find the Massachusetts Question 4 campaign a perfect example of what happens when you lose that connection.
