Stories as Healing: Community Screening & Conversation

An illuminated cinema screen is the focal point, with abstract layered portraits and a seated audience in the foreground.

Stories as Healing: Community Screening & Conversation is a community-centered Professional Development event on May 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Basie Center Cinema House, 36 White Street, Red Bank, New Jersey 07701 USA, featuring curated documentary selections: The River (Part 1 or selected excerpts), a trailer for Urban Canvas: From the Underground Up, and a proof of concept for Voices for Change. Exploring identity, history, and lived experience through a human-centered lens for Mental Health Month, the screenings offer reflection on storytelling as healing, creative expression as a tool for processing lived experiences, and preserving overlooked or unheard narratives, followed by a moderated conversation inviting audience members, collaborators, and community voices into dialogue about art, memory, and mental well-being. VC Gold members can sign in and RSVP for free; non-Gold attendees are invited to join and attend all events for free.
