Pre-conference Workshop: The Rural Election Data Sprint

Pre-conference Workshop: The Rural Election Data Sprint is an INN Days 2026 professional development lab for reporters, editors and data journalists at INN member Rural News Network (RNN) newsrooms, June 16, 2026, 11 AM–2 PM at Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, led by INN’s RNN, MuckRock’s Sunlight Research and OpenSecrets. With midterms months away and rural newsrooms short on time, tools and staff, editors and data experts guide tool walk-throughs, small-group discussion and brainstorming to turn national election data into local reporting: identify angles, key data, leads and next steps covering candidates, campaign finance, outside money, networks, influence and rural election dynamics. Register by June 10, 2026; $29 includes lunch; this workshop requires its own registration, separate from INN Days, which starts at 3:30 PM and requires separate registration if attending; questions: alana@inn.org.
